It's also EA we're talking about. EA has ruined every mmo they've touched.
Ultima Online went to hell when EA bought it.
DaoC died when EA bought it.
Hellgate London was a travesty.
Warhammer is cutting content.
There are several others that died in development shortly after EA bought them. There's plenty of time for them to kill this one too.
It could turn out great, but don't get your hopes up until you actually see some info.

You don't need to thotbott every quest you get in order to find where the item you need is, just look at the map and it will tell you where to go. I think that's pretty great. Melee combat is pretty awesome too, but AoC failed in a major way for me. They market the damn thing as having fantastic Directx 10 graphics... it doesn't even support it (yet). Plus, decors look pretty nice, but the characters and pets look pretty stupid. The quality of the characters has to match the quality of the background. SWG had plain and simple graphics for the environment, and the characters were pretty plain as well, so it fits. WoW has colorful backgrounds and colorful characters, they fit perfectly. AoC has fantastic water and backgrounds, but the characters (specially the demons) just don't fit in. It's like animating a stick figure on well made background, it doesn't work. But AoC had some great ideas (on top of everything else they stole from WoW). Unfortunately, their caster animations are about as good as the new graphics SWG had, they are very basic and don't look anywhere as nice as WoW's. |
