What did they change about them? Do they look the same, just better? I ask because I liked the old ones... heh Although it doesn't matter. I'm going on 8 months away from WoW. Might be a record.

So I was perusing through some of my old junk in the basement when I found a box full of old game cases and manuals. I found an old SWG box. Inside is the manual full of pre-NGE, pre-CU goodness, and an unopened, still shrink-wrapped case of SWG disks. I don't know why, but I got a tingly feeling seeing that baby still wrapped like that. Took me back to when I unwrapped the game for the first time, back when everything was new and exciting about it - back to when it was my first MMO - a Star Wars MMO - and nothing could be bad about it.
This box I found is the 2nd time I bought the game, for an alt character. The disks are still wrapped because the key I needed for another account is on the outside of the jewel case. So I never unwrapped it. And boy am I glad I didn't. Looking at that game looking brand-new like that really took me back.
And perusing the two SWG manuals I have, looking for differences, was a lot of fun too. So far all I've noticed was different colored text in some spots. lol
Anyway, that was my SWG adventure for the day...and year...

It's funny that you mention that because when I moved out, my parents sent me a box of shit that I had forgotten and in it was the old Pre-CU SWG manual.

I might have you guys beat, in my basement in a box I still have my SWG beta disks. One of the first beta tests I ever got into and I think back with fond memories. I do miss playing a star wars themed game, wonder how that swg-emu project is going.

You played SWG beta? I did not know that. That does beat us! That is really cool, man. Tell us some wild stories about the beta! lol I remember some story about "the shrub." Some floating bush in the beta that people would mock-worship. Myth or fact? hehe

Never saw the shrub, the beta was super unstable until about 3 weeks before launch...you could maybe get a half hour in before the servers would die. We used to group up with our shitty weapons and go find hard stuff to kill on tat(squills I think was the name), back then you could get stuff stuck on rocks and kill it without getting hurt but if it got loose you were dead.
Not alot of other crazy stuff happened because the servers were barely up, when they put up a release date we all yelled on the forums but you see what good that did in the end.

Yeah, it was dreadfully unready for release. That was their number one mistake. If they had taken more time, there may never have been a need for a CU or an NGE. They were constantly playing catch up, never had time to do anything else. That's why the game could never improve beyond what felt like a beta you had to pay for.
It's like trying to fix a broken floor with a bunch of people running around on it. You can fix a spot here and there sometimes, but you'll never get that floor fixed completely, or even nearly!
Analogies rock.

I'm installing the client now, they have alot of content going already and they have their own launcher that gets you ready to go on the emu servers. All you need to do is create a forum account and you can play on the emu stuff. www.swgemu.com

Well let me ask, how large is the client? Perhaps I could make the space.
