I don't doubt the validity of your given equation, but more specifically, I believe another accurate representation of the speed of sound (Mach 1) could be represented by the following equation -

S=(yRT)^1/2

Where:
S=speed in m/sec
y=specific heat ratio (~1.4)
R=specific gas constant in joules/kg/Kelvin
T=absolute temperature in Kelvin
