Found the PvP post, just like expertise its straight from wow.
Once the "Ranks & Rewards" feature is further along, we'll jump in here to discuss it. At this point, however, we don't have much to share as the feature is still in early development.

HERE IT IS
In chapter three there is going to be a complete re-write of the faction ranking system in Star Wars Galaxies.
The goals of this update are to add an achievement value to obtaining a GCW rank and to offer game play rewards to those endeavors.
GCW points and rank acquisition
* NPC Ground Combat: Boss and Elite caliber NPC’s within five levels will grant an amount of GCW Points.
* Ground PvP Combat: Players will be able to battle each other for GCW standing. Value of a PvP kill will degrade with repeated killing of the same target. This value loss will decay over time.
* NPC Space Combat: Defeating an NPC of equal or greater Tier value will grant an amount of GCW Points.
* Space PvP Combat: Players will be able to battle each other for GCW standing. Value of a PvP kill will degrade over time with repeated killing of the same target. The value loss will decay over time. In addition, a bonus to space PvE kills will be afforded if the pilot is declared for PvP combat.
* Ground PvP Regions: PvP combat that takes place within a PvP region will periodically receive bonus points for participation. The value of the bonus will be determined by overall activity, unique activity and faction imbalance.
* Space PvP Regions: PvP combat that takes place within a PvP region will periodically receive bonus points for participation. The value of the bonus will be determined by overall activity, unique activity and faction imbalance.
* Player Placed GCW Bases: Planetary control will provide a bonus to GCW standing, and base busting will provide bonus GCW standing similar to a PvP region.
Rank Gain and Reward
There are 12 ranks per side in the GCW system, six enlisted and six officers.
Once a week a players GCW points will be computed and their faction standing will modify accordingly.
Players will advance through the ranks normally on the enlisted end gaining rank commensurate with personal GCW participation. Once the players reach the officer ranks they will begin to lose standing during their weekly update. This increases the difficulty of advancement and dictates steady participation in GCW activities to maintain rank.
The rank structure uses the factional Army advancement structure.
Rank 1: I – Private, R – Private
Rank 2: I – Lance Corporal, R – Trooper
Rank 3: I – Corporal, R – High Trooper
Rank 4: I – Sergeant, R – Sergeant
Rank 5: I – Master Sergeant, R – Senior Sergeant
Rank 6: I – Sergeant Major, I – Sergeant Major
Rank 7: I – Lieutenant, R – Lieutenant
Rank 8: I – Captain, R – Captain
Rank 9: I – Major, R – Major
Rank 10: I – Lt. Colonel, R – Commander
Rank 11: I – Colonel, R – Colonel
Rank 12: I – General, R – General
Ranks will be displayed on the player avatar in the same fashion they are now, with a selection on the community page, and the rank title will appear above the characters name.
On achieving enlisted and officer ranks, players gain the ability to purchase items from their faction recruiter.
At the officer level players will also gain access to character abilities and to exclusive officer chat channels.
If a player eventually loses an officer rank through inactivity, they will also lose access to the officer channels and abilities but will retain the ability to use any item rewards they have purchased.
The Character Page
A new tab will be added to the character page for the tracking of GCW status. The character page will appear in a similar fashion to this. Other players can view this page by examining your character.

Frequently asked questions:
How do I join a faction?
We are removing the barrier to entry for joining a faction. Any neutral player can approach a faction recruiter and immediately sign up without any 200 FP requirement.
What is happening to Imperial and Rebel faction?
Rebel and Imperial faction will be losing their “4th money” status, and will instead operate as any other faction by manipulating NPC reaction to your character.
Bonus FAQ: What are the four money types?
Cash, Bank, JTL credit chips and Faction.
How will I obtain factional equipment in the new system?
After obtaining the proper rank, available items will be purchased with credits.
What will happen to my current faction rank?
The current faction ranks and ranking system are being removed. There is no conversion planned into the new system due to the ease of gaming the old system. With the assistance of a smuggler, a new player could be a Colonel in under an hour.
What will happen to the rewards and items recruiters currently sell?
Everything a faction recruiter currently sells will be offered in the new system, in addition to the all new items. All granted schematics are at the first tier so aligned crafters will have access.
Why did you use the Army ranks?
The Imperial and Alliance Army rank structure had the greatest Fidelity from Enlisted to Officer. A number of ranks were matched in name rather than actual standing to avoid having a rank name at two different levels cross-faction.
Does this mean we will see the return of the FRS soon?
This is the old Force Ranking System. There are significant modifications to the point scoring rules and a rank decay officer filtering system rather than voting or arena combat.
There are no plans for a competitive class based rank system.
What happens if I resign from my faction?
You will lose all standing, and the ability to use your factional equipment. If you later rejoin that faction you will begin advancement from the beginning, but will immediately regain use of any previously obtained factional equipment unless there is an additional rank requirement.
How long will it take to advance in the new system?
Currently at the max calculated advancement rate we would see our first General in 16 weeks.
At what rate do the Officer ranks decay?
Players can lose a maximum of 40% of a rank per week.
How difficult is it to advance and maintain the officer ranks?
Unknown at this time. We will be monitoring activity and have access to the knobs and buttons necessary to adjust accordingly should the system be deemed too steep or too easy.
