Talked to a guy that works for SOE

So this weekend I got to talk to a guy that works in the customer service department for SOE, he created the phone recording systems that tracks how the phone support does. He said that they took all the blame for SWG so lucas arts would look good, all the changes and the early release of SWG came down from lucas. He said it sucks that they did it but whats done is done. I tried to get him to make my account free but he didn't want to get in trouble hehe. I play WoW with him now so I am going to bug him for more insider info.

Makes me feel a bit better about SOE and that I would think about playing another game by them.

I'm leveling a warrior on lightbringer to help out some guys i work with. I'll be back on medivh once i get this guy to 70 but i'm really focusing on him right now. If we could get a run going I would be there though.

This is actually no secret, but most tend to forget it most of the time. I've known this for a while, but still usually flame SOE. It is hard not to blame them when they are the "face" of it all.

But you must admit, take away the problems Lucas Arts caused and there are still many things SOE screwed up themselves. Whether or not they would have so many problems if it weren't for LA's antics we may never know. But I bet SWG would have been a much better game if SOE had the time and breathing space to do things right. Jedi as a playable class (hello alpha class) was a BAD IDEA. I've heard that SOE didn't want to make jedi playable, but LA made them. The reasons SOE didn't want an alpha class played out. Jedi and the problems they resulted in are the largest reason(s) the game failed. So from that one wrong move LA likely made SOE do, it is easy to see how SOE probably had no choice but to watch the game fall apart as they struggled to keep it together.

It doesn't help that LA has been known to mess up their own games in this way. KOTOR2, for example, is a great game. However, it has its obvious flaws. Lucas Arts forced the company making the game to duck tape the game instead of bolt it down. There is missing content, actual sound files and videos in the cd's that never made it into the game because LA rushed the launch. There are obvious holes in the storyline, they never got to finish it, and the ending absolutely sucks - because it was rushed. Luckily the improvements in game play they made early on over KOTOR made KOTOR2 a very enjoyable game. But it just goes to show how LA thinks more about the marketing side of things than quality and doing things right. Not every game has to come out days before Christmas to sell well...

However, us outsiders are unlikely to know who is to blame for everything that went wrong in SWG. I say, blame them both. They are both responsible for the game, and both should take responsibility. The fact that Lucas Arts takes none shows badly for them. We may not know everything, but I feel we know enough to be sure that, at the very least, the failure of the game originated from LA's end, not SOE's.

Sadly, Lucas Arts shows no signs that they have learned from their mistakes. The Star Wars name creates high sales that blind them to the truth that there could be more sales, better games, and happier customers. And when a game actually does flop? I'm sure the game developer is to blame, not Lucas Arts, because they didn't make the game. They just supervise everything and make things hard, and sometimes impossible, for the developers. No, there's no way it could be LA's fault! *sigh* They need to grow some balls and get their heads out of their asses at the same time.

Well he put it this way, LA owns the rights and if you want to play ball you play by their rules. Jedi was in-game because of LA, the force village was added because of LA, the NGE was created because of LA. Every major change to the game was added because LA wanted it and there was nothing SOE could do if they wanted to retain the game which they did. Thats why so many people have left SOE over the game.

the gayest thing is that they sent Julio Torres (i think thats his name) over to work on that new Star Wars game for the Xbox 360.. i hope they don't rush that one because it looks AMAZING

As for The Force Unleashed, I do hope it comes out for every console. I don't have any of the new ones, but I do want a Wii someday. However, I haven't seen any mention of it coming out for the Wii, only the Playstation and Xbox.

Fuck Julio Fucking Torres. I hate this guy. He is by far the dumbest piece of shits I have ever witnessed in the gaming scene. I still have no idea how he is able to keep his job. You type up his name and the games he's came out with, you'll notice that his games flop. Not to mention the guy looks like a total dumbass. Its true, he is one of the main reasons the NGE came out and very reason why SWG flopped. Sure the jedi wasn't his idea- that was Haden Blackman's doing. LA had no experience in the MMORPG genre and would suffice to at least heed the suggestions SOE made. Now like mobus said, its not solely on the shoulders of one of the company. Obviously both are to blame but I gurantee the company that basically made SWG a deadhorse (more dead then we were playing) was LA because of..... say it with me..... yes mobus I'm talking to you... say it with me.... its because of Julio Fucking Torres.

Anyways, as for the console wars. Nintendo Wii will take the lead. Wii is by far the best purchase and I dont' think force unleashed will be released for the Wii by the way. The game's graphical demand is I think a little too much for the Wii to handle. Bear in mind that if LA does port over to the Wii, the graphics will have to take a knotch down from the Hardware giants microsoft and Sony.

Before you make your choice to which console your going to buy mobus. Let me give you some insight on some very kick ass games coming this summer. Its well known that 2007 is going to be the Xbox 360's year.

Theres a few games that are for both the Ps3 and 360 but most of them are exclusive for the 360. One for sure is Mass Effect. Did you like KOTOR? or any games similar to that? Well I got news, Mass Effect is made by the same guys that made KOTOR. Bioware you'll probably know them as. Its by far one of the games I am most looking forward to for the summer. It takes place in space. Science Fiction and lets just say the open ended theme of this game is just awesome.

Please take a look at the games I've listed. As you already have guessed, I prefer the 360 to the PS3.

If anyone wants to counter with PS3's game list please do. I don't know any of them other then the fact MGS4 is going over there. However, theres alot of rumours that MGS4 might be ported to the 360 later, just like when sony thought they had GTA4, Armoured Core 4, etc as there exclusives.

I never thought I'd want one when they were launching, so I know little about them. So I did a little surfing and took a glance at the PS3 and 360 last night. For price alone, I think, the 360 wins. I'm not paying $600 for a console! That is crazy. I've got better things to spend that kind of money on. Perhaps the 20gb version of the PS3 is cheaper. But I doubt by $300. Those games for the 360 look good anyway. Thanks Jwei. >

So now it is looking like I'll get the 360 if I get anything other than the Wii. Still, I think I may never own The Force Unleashed. If I get a console, I want the Wii. Yet the one console game I look forward to the most is not for the Wii. So why spend any money on any consoles if I can't get what I want without buying two of them? *sigh* Maybe there will be a emulator for the PS3 or 360 by then and I can play The Force Unleashed that way. I think there are ps2 and xbox emulators around now. >
