It did lez, micorsoft pretty much said all 360s are defective because they don't have enough cooling to stop them from getting too hot and breaking. Wow. Is it just me or is that a pretty obvious oversight? You'd think that would be the first thing they'd check for when stress testing the console. I wonder if they made any other design flaws. Anyway, if I get a 360, now I know to take measures to keep the heat inside of it down. That is unless Microsoft spunks up the cooling in it before I get one.

It doesn't overheat from playing but from use, normal use will cause the heat to fry your system after some time resulting in the red ring of death. They are now fixing them by adding more heatsyncs.

Lol, If all it needs is more heat sinks then that is truly sad for Microsoft. It means they were just c-h-e-a-p.
Enough reason to buy a Playstation I think. I hate cheap companies.

www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-348-1.htmHmm. But can we believe it? Heh. If it's true, the xbox sounds like a better choice indeed. I don't know much about the consoles or the former consoles' history either, but the part about xbox's game selection is true (right?) and gives the article credibility for me. It also helps that the xbox is cheaper. I'd rather have a Wii than either the PS3 or the 360 because it is cheaper and pretty revolutionary, but a) it is a pain in the ass to get and b) they aren't making the best looking Jedi game ever for the Wii!!!! /cry Share your thoughts on that article guys. And is there any more trailers/news/etc. on The Force Unleashed?

I love the Xbox 360 because not only does it play games, but you can download game demos, game trailers, TV shows, rent movies, watch DVD's, chat one on one with buds (in game and out of game), can co-op over the internet on games such as Gears of War, and you don't have to buy many accessories. The only thing i hate buying is the Gold version so i can play my games on the internet. And since it costs like 30 bucks for 3 months i dont even bother paying for it, which means i dont bother playing my xbox.
If you want to buy a 360 i would buy one in the fall when CoD4, Halo 3, and Assassin's Creed comes out. Right now its pretty boring, well unless you get oblivion that game is pretty kickass. Oh and if you have friends IRL who have it, i chat to my bro who lives 200 miles from me using it.

I didn't know it could do all those things Lez. That is pretty sweet. And yes, oblivion is pretty kickass!! The PC version is absolutely insane, and I don't use that word lightly, because of the freedom to customize that game. The devs give you the tools, and people do some very cool things and come out with some very cool mods. However, that is also what ruins the game (and Morrowind, the Elder Scrolls game before Oblivion) for me. I always end up adding these mods that basically make me feel like I am cheating. Insane spells are an example. I had this mod that gave me spells that could completely change the weather. I could make hurricanes, or have giant meteors attack entire cities. I could make it rain acid and kill everyone outside. I could shoot someone straight up 15 football fields into the air and watch them fall to their deaths. Or I could do the same to myself, safely, to avoid danger. I could summon giant elementals to fight for me. I mean huge ones, the size of skyscrapers. So yeah. lol Owning an entire town of people when just the day before I had to be careful who I messed with was fun but made the game boring fast. I need the challenge. But at the same time I found the mods too hard to resist. Which is why I never got far in Oblivion. Although, moreso than the mods was the graphics that deterred me. My computer couldn't handle it at anything but the most modest of settings. And the last con to that game for me was how lonely it felt. It played like a MMORPG, but without the MO. =( As you can see, I am in some kind of weird abusive love for that game. =P Someday I'll play through the storyline and be happy. I'll do that after I build my new pc in a few months...or after I get a 360! Hey, I just had a thought. The 360 has a hard drive, and I just learned from you, Lez, that you can do all those sexy things on it. I wonder if you can mod Oblivion and some other games for the 360 like people do for the pc... You or Jwei will have to answer that for me!

I'm betting you can do at least some modifications, but whether or not they are "mods" or "hacks" is probably the bigger question! lol The 360 has really piqued my interest now after seeing the Oblivion 360 screenshots on the Elder Scrolls main website. They look just as good as the pc screenshots. Oblivion's graphics are years ahead of most other games (in my opinion at least). And if the 360 can run a game like Oblivion with the graphics as they are, well, the 360 is a long way from getting outdated in terms of visual quality. If I remember correctly, at their launch the gamecube, playstation 2, and original xbox graphics were worse than what could be obtained by pc's at that time, not to mention a couple years after they launched! While I'm sure that is the case now, the pc's to beat the graphics of a 360 would have to be very top end and cost a lot to make. A lot more than a 360 would cost. What is really weird is that the nicest pc graphics cards cost as much as the whole xbox system lol. I just woke up from a long ass nap, so tell me if I am not making any sense, or if I am wrong. Oh btw, the PS3 Oblivion screenshots look just as good as the 360 and PC. So their graphics are here to stay as well. But I'd still rather play a game on the PC than any console (except maybe the Wii! That is too fun to not love xD) if it was made for the PC as well. It is hard to beat the added control, comfort, and customization you can have with a PC. And then there is that sense of accomplishment you feel when you build a nice pc and it runs a taxing game like Oblivion and asks for seconds! The problem is when they don't launch PC versions of games... =(

You or Jwei will have to answer that for me! Unfortunately you can't mod any games on the 360 because none of the games are actually installed into your console. The reason you can mod games on PC is because you install most of the game into your Hard Drive and by playing a little with the files you can "mod." On another note. Mobus if you are getting a 360, I suggest you wait too like what Lez said. The elite I think will be cheaper in Christmas. Especially the PS3 just recently dropped in price. If the price drop doesnt' help sony, they will drop it again. At that point the 360 will have to follow suit. If you like Oblivion, you sure will like Mass Effect and there is a game coming out called Fallout 3 which is by the makers of Oblivion. I'm not sure if anyone in these boards played the first two fallouts, but they were revolutionary to the RPG genre.

Bethesda sells a few mods for Oblivion, but you can't use the player made mods on the 360. And the player made ones are a thousand times better.
Theoretically you could hack the console and make mods for it, but you'd need to build a toolset to make the mods.

Aye, I figured since the 360 had a hard drive that perhaps some files from games were saved to it and therefore could be modded. I'm sure someone has figured out how to mod savegame files at the very least. As for waiting, good idea! I was going to do that anyway! lol I won't have the money available to buy one for a while. I have some things I want to do to my Jeep and I want to build a new pc. So it will be a little bit before I can get a console. Perhaps I will be able to wait until Unleashed comes out. Like you said, maybe by then the prices of the 360, and some of its better games that are currently out, will have dropped to more reasonable levels. =)

I just now saw Neg and Eoro's posts!! /hug Neg! w00t lol I see what you're saying Neg. I really wish all games came out for the pc as well. (and I am glad Oblivion is a PC game ) Consoles really have nothing over gaming rigs, with the exception of the Wii and it's unique control style. That looks so fun. And to be fair, consoles do have more portability and are cheaper than a gaming pc. Both of which are nice advantages. Although if you download your games...heh, let's not go there. That's the reason less games are coming out for the PC, I'm sure!
