I'm about 20% as excited as I used to be. I'll be drooling again once they announce space combat. But I don't think they will. I'll pass out if they announce player cities and complex crafting systems and economy. But I *really* don't think they will. They're going with the WoW approach. Make it simple. Make it "accessible" (aka simple). And make it mainstream (aka...simple). We're not going to see the complexity that we loved so much in SWG. And honestly, why would they do that? That's why SWG was great, yes, but it is also why it was so buggy. That complexity was a "barrier to entry" for newcomers and is why SWG didn't have 10 gazillion players like WoW. It bordered on simulation in some aspects, instead of entertainment video game. But that's exactly what I want! lol Oh well. SWTOR will be great, yes. But only like WoW is great. Except with Star Wars thrown in...which just may be enough to keep me addicted for all time, anyway - despite the lack of complexity and depth. That's my prediction for today at least! heh Also, here's some evidence for my theory! lol www.swtor.com/info/systems/advanced-classesAs if merely seeing a talent tree wasn't enough (lol, even SWG went that route!!!), that quote is especially telling. Sounds just like the WoW warrior, doesn't it? DPS or Tank spec. Makes sense, surely, but what exactly is unique about it? Oh, the lightsaber. I wonder if SWTOR's warrior will also be able to outdps every dps class. Exciting! /shrug It was a mistake to get my hopes up. Especially when they themselves said they were trying to replicate the epic adventures you see in the movies, making the player the hero. They didn't say they wanted to replicate what life as Watto the Troydarian junk shop owner would be like...which I guess is basically what I want. I want that option. I had it in SWG. *sigh* Again, I'm not saying the game won't be fun. I'm sure it will be a blast. I'm even willing to be it will be a WoW-killer. But I just don't think it will satisfy those of us who loved SWG because of its complexity and depth. You won't be able to be a Musician/Gunsmith, Rifleman/CH with a smidgeon of artisan, or Smuggler/Pistoleer/TKM in SWTOR. You'll be some cookie cutter class with dinky things called talent points that essentially modify your class, not your character. Kissing ass to Stettin the billionaire gunsmith to try to get a discount won't be necessary (or possible), because you'll get all your gear from quests and dungeons. You won't be going to the cantina to see Jen, your favorite dancer, for a buff before heading out to slay a Krayt Dragon that you and friends have to make a swoop bike grid to find and get before another group because he's roaming the open world, not some instanced dungeon. You won't be combining spaceship parts into better, unique parts, and then putting all those together to form a starfighter unlike anyone else's. You may not even have a starfighter, period! You won't be surveying exotic planets for rare resources, risking your frail body to set up harvesters, and proudly making parts to put at your shop back at your homeworld (or perhaps at one of your branches!) that you so carefully named and decorated to make customers feel at home and compel them to linger and check out all your other vendors. You won't have parties at your friend's cantina in your, YOUR town that you worked so hard to build, playing music and dancing and acting stupid before and/or after going off together on some grand adventure that may or may not have began/resulted in you all dying in Neg's exploding NOVA freighter. Etc. Now, I could make an even longer list of all the things you won't be doing that are GOOD, like rubberbanding, waiting 10 minutes for a shuttle (I actually liked that...haha), etc. Again, the game's going to rock. It'll be arguably better in many, many, many ways. But it will be a kiddy pool.

I'm going to break forum etiquette again and triple post. It's not too lively around here, so there's no harm in talking to myself is there? lol Dearest Mobus, So I've said my peace (I hope) about SWTOR not being a "replacement" for SWG in SWG's heyday. I really don't think it will be. It won't offer the same things, the same experience. But I also said that I don't think the game will be bad. I don't. I think it will be badASS. I do fear it will be a "kiddie pool" compared to what SWG used to be, as far as complexity goes, but that's the new turn for mmo's I guess. What I *do* expect from SWTOR is KOTOR3 Online. There is a huge focus on story (this is Bioware after all!). And, last I heard, there is also a large focus on singleplayer content, should the player choose to solo. So I'm thinking it will be like a KOTOR3 with other dudes running around, the option to adventure with real life people and friends instead of purely scripted ai companions - although you will have ai companions as well. Oh, and a monthly fee. In other words, I think those of us who just wanted a singleplayer KOTOR3 instead of an mmo (I'm one of them) will be more than happy with the game. They are focusing on story, and they said the game will have more content than every other game they ever made combined. It will also have an added bonus of us being able to play with our buds, along with the drag of a monthly fee - which people who have no online buds or hate multiplayer will utterly detest! lol Anyway, I *am* excited. But I had my hopes up that the game would be everything SWG could have been. Instead, it will basically be a multiplayer KOTOR3 with no real end and a monthly fee. Yes, it is a ripoff for those who just want to play alone, but it will be a blast for anyone who loved KOTOR. It's just definitely going to be a different kind of experience than that of golden-day SWG. It's funny that I ever thought it would be, actually. They never said anything that should have led me to that conclusion! Will it be awesome? Yes. Will it be a fulfillment of SWG's unique but un-achieved potential? No. Love, Mobus PS I'm wearing those pink hawtpants with the wings you love to bite. What are you wearing?

Dear Lezzy (hehe),
Tell me how it is.
Hehe, Mobus
Dear Kindreth,
I enjoy watching you watch me sleep. I don't answer the phone because I'm trying to build sexual tension between us. Is it working? I was just playing hard to get with that restraining order. And hiring that hit man. And trying to run you over with my car. And leaving those poison cookies outside my bedroom window. I'm glad to see they didn't kill you like I hop...thought they did.
Hoping you believe this long enough for me to leave the country, Mobus!

Dear Mobus, It was never sexual, I just love the way your hair smells and flows in the wind. O and also I think you would taste really good with some Mashed taters. But that neither here nor there. I miss you. The hit man is still stored in my freezer. Where you trying to run me over? I thought you were playing tag. I fed those cookies to your dog. Sorry, dont like sweets. O and dont worry I got a seat right behind yours on the plane. I just want a peice of you, just ask lezzy. What do you think happened to his hand. Muahahahahahah. Just kidding he really lost in a accident. lol Kindreth
