Been pretty busy myself. I still get some gaming in from time to time, but not like I used to. And I've been off of mmo's for a year and a half now, I think. That will likely change when SWTOR comes out, though. I was having a hard time seeing how I'd possibly stay away from the game *before* they announced that there would be space combat. Now...what hope is there for me? lol So you joined the Army? Then I thank you for serving, and wish you good luck in all you do Sir!

yeah i hope swtor is good still wont hold up to my expectations from pre-cu swg . i remember running around in FO and groups of us doing the c vette and getting raped lol. i remember 1 time outside of FO i killed a tusken that dropped a VK and i forget who it said the creator was but i think it was kowpla lol . whoever had the weapon vendor in our town. i think kindreth had a doctor or maybe that was phenix idk lol... fun times fun times . to bad was more worried about bringing in little kids rather then keeping the vets that made the game what it was . Cu wasnt too bad i coulda lived with it but i mean seriously a jedi with no force in nge? defeats the whole purpose of a jedi... tsk tsk And yes joined the army thank you

I've seen the video Ehrgeiz. I about died, right there in my chair. But after my last post here, I learned that space combat is apparently on rails. If so, not good. It won't surpass or even match SWG's space combat like that! Hopefully it's either not true, or the devs change their minds.
And yeah, I have so many good memories from SWG. One of my fondest is the first time I saw a Jedi in the game. It was a Dark Jedi NPC on Dathomir. I was a CH at the time. I had a giant beetle that I sent after it, and the beetle got owned. I think I named that beetle Beetlejuice...I'm not sure though. Anyway, then I went in and I got owned! haha I remember Negilum kiting the Dark Jedi and actually plinking away at the health bar, until eventually he either lagged or ran into a tree or something and the Dark Jedi caught up. That was the end of Negilum's impressive dance with the dark side! lol
This was all pre-cu, btw, before the age of composite armor, when life in SWG was scary, dangerous, and exciting!
Man, I hated seeing everyone run around in composite armor! lol

I loved the TKM/Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler spec. It was called the "Triple Threat," and I believe there were enough skill points left over for novice medic. Good times. <3

I think the pve space combat is on rails and that is what we get first before they release a pvp version of space. Pretty sure I saw that some where but I could be wrong. Either way it looked amazing.

Space is single player on rails. There are absolutely no plans for pvp or multiplayer.

^ sigh. They did say, I believe, that there were absolutely no plans for space. But here we are with space. On rails, yes, but still space. So maybe Bioware will treat us with pvp and pve multiplayer eventually. It'd be really lovely if they got rid of the rails altogether. But that doesn't seem likely with how polished that video looked. I don't think developers like completely changing track (see what I did there?) after putting so much work into a thing. Then again, maybe it wouldn't be much excess work after all. What do I know? It is my suspicion, though, that the reason it is on rails in the first place is to make it easier to develop. It also makes it easier to guide the player and make sure they get a such and such experience, which is something Bioware likes to do. They aren't very sandbox. SWG, though, was very sandbox. To its detriment, I guess. It's probably been said ad nauseam, but SWTOR is looking very much to be a Star Wars World of Warcraft. Which isn't knocking it, but it does have connotations, like a very guided (rails! lol) experience. And hi Neg.

Oh I don't think it looks anything like that mobus, with the kotor style quests I think its going to feel much more like kotor/mass effect then wow. That's exactly what I mean, though. I'm saying it will be a very guided experience like in KOTOR, Mass Effect, and WoW, instead of the sandbox "make your own content" we had in SWG. It's not a bad thing. Just different. Different than SWG, that is. lol I need to make that distinction because it's not really different in that regard than other mmo's. Most mmo's have a very guided experience, I think. Pre-CU SWG just plopped you out there and said "okay, go make a life in the Star Wars universe!" With the CU and Kashyyyk, they started to try to guide the player with the inclusion of actual story-driven quests. That's what most mmo's do from the start now. As far as pve goes, WoW is all questing and dungeon runs. That's what I think SWTOR will be, only spiced up a lot more with voice acting and dungeons/stories that change based on player decisions, etc. You shouldn't get the "waaah there's nothing to do in this game" whining that you had in SWG, but you're unlikely to get the creative freedom you had in SWG, either. I'm talking about intricate character appearance and profession customization, deep crafting systems, complex player economy, a player-driven gear system, and so on. SWG had a lot to do. What it didn't have was an npc with a ! over it's head to tell you what to do. SWTOR definitely will.

I admit I was one of the ones who would complain about the lack of things to do. I complained during the holocron craze, when the only thing I saw to do (and the only thing I actually saw anyone doing) was grinding. Everyone wanted to unlock Jedi, and that seemed to be all anyone that I knew was doing. I didn't want any part of that. I remember refusing to grind out Droid Engineer, the profession my first or second holocron told me to do! lol Pretty much everyone else was busy grinding professions. If you ever wanted to get together to do something with your friends, it was often thwarted because so many people were in the middle of switching professions, meaning they were powder-puffs. That wasn't always the case, certainly, and there was a lot more to do and more going on than holo grinding. And not everyone was always busy doing that. People took breaks. Some, like me, didn't really try. But it was most people's focus. The CU wasn't too much different, but perhaps fortunately if you wanted Jedi, you soon were one, and then you could "do stuff." People spent less time grinding for that goal and more time doing stuff with friends, because it took so much less time to become a Jedi if that is what you wanted to do. And most everyone wanted to do that! lol The holocron craze aside, though, I remember doing all sorts of fun, random, and often crazy things with you guys. The early days were so fun. Everyone was figuring everything out still. Most people were complete noobs to MMO's, myself included. It was exciting. For us MMO noobs the possibilities seemed endless. Man, those FO vs Bestine battles were something else. My favorite time was probably when Jump to Lightspeed came out. I really, really, really loved hot shotting around with everyone in space! And the space/ship system was complex, too. Neg helped me out a lot in understanding it, as he did with understanding the other game systems in the early days. Neg was always the go-to guy when anyone had a question. In fact, he taught me how to craft, how to make macros, and how to collect parts to Reverse Engineer for a badass ship. I was fortunate enough to get one of those reeeaaally nice A-Wing engines from a RE by Neg before they got "fixed." Loved that thing. /tiphat Neg So SWG had it's highs and lows, I guess. The only real low I can think of pre cu would be the holocron grindfest. I hated that. No one was around to do anything most of the time. I remember going out to people's grinding spots out in the middle of nowhere on planets like Endor or Dathomir and watching them grind out of boredom lol. I think that must have been before you could do so as a group, back when grouping wasn't for XP but for like...rancor hunting expeditions for rancor meat. That was always fun, too. I remember how excited we all were when player housing came out. We were all so gung-ho when we made RSF. That excitement for the guild was always there. Most of us were so proud of our Rebel Special Forces. Then eventually we made Fort Ootini, our pride and joy! lol, And it still makes me chuckle to think about how excited we got when mounts and then vehicles came out! Before that it was all auto-run and burst-run when it was up. lol I think burst run had a 5 minute cooldown, too. Ugh! lol, Lots of good memories!
