Hello mates,
I will not say like hundred and thousands and millions of players that Im a pre CU jedi, because it's a lie. I started on pub10 with a trial account. I found, after playing a lot of games, that this was the best game I ever played. So, I started with marksman, Bounty Hunter, Commando, Combat Medic and almost all combat proffesions. And finally, during pub 15 or something I unlocked jedi. So, I started with a Guardian template (Master LS, Defender 4440, Heal 4000, Enh 3002) then I started to change templates like crazy, enjoying the good grinding groups that we formed on Tat, Endor and Rori. Even when I tried for 1 week Master Defender and I changed to my final template (Mpowers, Menhancement, and others) I enjoyed a lot the tank role of a jedi.
So I decided to play a tank template since chapter 2 with the new expertise system. Probably this is not a new template, is very logic and classic, but it works very good and you feel the improvement on your jedi class. So, let's talk about it and how to improve it, for all who love to stand in the first line:
****GENERAL(28 points)****
From the passive stat enhancements I choosed Enhanced Strenght(2) and Enhanced Constitution(2) for a 50 points bonus on each of both stats.
Then Alacrity(4) for the nice 8% Glancing Blow chance and as pre-requisite for an important skill as Cloak. So, Force Cloak(1) and Improved Force Cloak(1). I will talk a lil later about this 2.
Another defensive box will be Saber Block(1) and Improved Saber Block(3). Both works very very good on places like Death Watch Bunker and Avatar Platform.
Then, our offensive boxes from General will be Exacting Strikes(4) for a 8% increment on Strikes and Sweeps, Incisiveness(4) for a 4% chance of critical attacks and Fidelity(4) for a 4% increase on all damage you done.
Finally, I choosed Crippling Accuracy(2) for a 50% chance to snare with Force Throw.
****PATH(17 points)****
Here I made a hard personal decission. I play a dark jedi, so I should get dark jedi skills. The problem is that I feel that they are too weak and of course they dont fit in this kind of template. So I choosed Light path and we can RP as if we stole the knowledge from a drunken Jedi Master or something, you choose.
Cautious Nature(4) will give us 40 more points on constitution, that of course is one of the most important stats in this kind of template. For some reason, I prefer to get a lot of constitution than agility. I feel like the investment on constitution is better than the investment on agility, but of course Im not sure and I didnt worked on that yet. If anyone has some studies on it please let me know.
I choosed all 4 lightsaber boxes for a 4% Glancing Blow bonus (we got some more from General), 12% chance of increase action on damaging strikes on jedi, a 5% bonus on a very nice Double Strike skill and a 6% damage reduction. From heals I got Soothing Aura(4) and Hermetic Touch(1) for an uber 10k heal.
You should see something like this on General:
General
Path
So, with this template you can deal nice amounts of damage while NPCs hits you for low damage. We tried this with a friend and his trader on the DWB for some crafting jobs. I tried to kill everything on my way, and I did it, even groups of 2 Super Battle Droids with his mini-them, Battle Droids and some Blacksuns. I was able to take them all without foods, without stims, without cloak, just using Saber Block to avoid some damage from away enemies and using the uber 10k heal (Shien Stance and Elder Robe).
I have a 96% Jinzu Razor with a B'nar's Sacrifice on it and 3 17/18 Crystals and 1 16/17. So, you can see that my LS is not so good, so stop crying because your LS sucks, you can work on a nice char without the best of the best.
I was almost 10 hours on DWB looting and crafting and trying to make Haldo work, so I didnt tried too much pvp. Anyway, in the morning after serer reset I did this template and I went to Restuss and killed some rebel scum (no offense mr scums) without too much problems. Criticals are a good weapon on almost all templates, so I had some luck when fighting them. Maybe they where trying some jedi and BH templates too, so I have to test the temp a lot more.
Notes About Cloak: I dont like cloak in this template, because this is a "hit me and I will hit you, you bassttarrd" template. So probably I'll change at least the improved version for another damage skill (probably the improvement for Force Throw).
To finish this post, I would like to remind you that this template is a classic template, probably hundred of "old pre-cu jedi from 1989 when the game came live in secret" will do it better and before than me. The general idea is to discuss an improvement and a personal way to play this tanks.
